I have completed a full and thorough risk assessment for Claire Best Holistic Massage Therapy based on the guidance outlined by the government in relation to hands-on therapies as well as the interpretations of my professional bodies – FHT and CNHC -  and up to date information from NHS and WHO. Updated July 2021.

Here is a summary of what you can expect when you book a massage:

 

Screening for COVID-19

• 24 hours before your appointment, you will have a COVID-19 telephone or email assessment in which we will discuss symptoms of you, your immediate household, childcare and support bubble as well as your general health and risk category

• When you arrive for your appointment, I will use an infrared thermometer to measure your temperature.

• I will be monitoring my health, my family’s health and, although fully vaccinated, will take regular lateral flow tests

• Please contact me to cancel your treatment if you or anyone in your household, childcare or support bubble has symptoms or if you have been contacted by NHS Test and Trace – no cancellation fee will be applied

 

You will not be able to book a massage, if:

• You are in the extremely clinically vulnerable (high risk) category and have been advised to shield (more information here)

• If you are currently pregnant and have been advised not to vaccinate. I apologise but the guidance provided is limited and I don’t feel the risk outweighs the benefit at this time

• You, anyone in your household, childcare or support bubble have shown signs of COVID-19 in the last 10 days or if you have been contacted by NHS Test and Trace

• You received your vaccine within the past 10 days to allow for side effects

• You have experienced quite major side effects from vaccination, including: shortness of breath, chest pain, leg swelling, persistent abdominal pain, blurred vision, confusion, seizures, or a severe headache that is not relieved with painkillers or is getting worse

 

You will require medical consent and we will need to determine if benefit outweighs risk on a case by case basis, if:

• You are in the extremely clinically vulnerable group but no longer shielding

• You have an underlying health condition and therefore considered at higher risk from coronavirus

• You are pregnant

• You have received medical treatment (eg; hospitalised) for COVID 19

• You had significant side effects from vaccination

 

For your safety, I promise to:

• Monitor my own health and take my temperature daily, including regular lateral flow testing

• Monitor my family’s health

• Reduce client appointments to a maximum of 2 per day

• Reduce appointment time to 60 minutes

• Ventilate the massage room before, during and after every client

• Provide hand sanitiser in the hall, bathroom and massage room

• Wash and sanitise my hands and arms before I meet you, after I’ve set up the room and before I touch you

• Provide you with your own soap and hand towel and ask that you to wash your hands before and after your treatment

• Clean and disinfect all hard surfaces you may come into contact with, including doors, floors, bannisters, hallway, bathroom, massage couch and massage room before and after every client

• Wash all towels, couch covers and clothing before and after every client (this has always been standard policy)

• Use visor, type II mask and gloves, as advised by the government and for which I am fully trained in the correct usage and disposal

 

I ask that you:

• Bring your own water

• Wear a face covering/mask throughout your treatment

• Call me from the front garden so I can open the door for you

• Keep jewellery and clothing to a minimum

• Shower and change clothes if you have been in a public place/work/public transport prior to your massage appointment

• Sanitise and wash your hands upon arrival and before you leave

• Use the NHS Test and Trace QR code provided in the massage room

• Cancel your treatment if you or anyone in your household, childcare or support bubble has symptoms or if you have been contacted by NHS Test and Trace – no cancellation fee will be applied
